A few years ago, I started writing regular posts about ABC’s hit TV show, Shark Tank. Over time, my blog became dominated by the reality show. It was time to segment the content into a new blog. I expected to take a big hit on traffic, both on my existing blog and the new Shark Tank Blog. The hit lasted two weeks and it couldn’t have worked out better.
The Shark Tank blog launched February 1st, 2012 and two weeks later had awesome traffic. I knew that it would be a success so I asked Rob Merlino (a.k.a., Hotdogman) , another blogger, to become a partner on the site. In less than three months, we had out very first 100,000 view month. Not only that, the blog turned profitable in just the second month. We’re expecting our first million view month very soon.
I recently rebuilt the blog with a new design, creating more opportunity to showcase content and increase profits. Once again, we updated the domain name and duplicated the results that we experienced from the first launch. The new domain is http://sharktankblog.com.
We’re excited about the new season. The show is hotter than ever and has 22 new episodes. Add in the previous three seasons and we’ve got a ton of original content. We’re connecting with the entrepreneurs who appear on the show, even before their episode airs. We’ve got the freshest content and insight.
New Bloggers – Shark Tank Blog
We recently made another great move. Stephanie Lichtenstein teamed up with Shark Tank Blog to help small business entrepreneurs improve their social media. She’ll be writing on the blog, producing new videos and tweeting with our team and you on Friday nights.
Controversy makes the Shark Tank TV show exciting. Last season, Scott Jordan lit up all the Sharks with his fiery presentation. During the show, he made a call to Steve Wozniak (Apple Co-Founder) to gauge his opinion on the deal.
That’s just the start, Mark Cuban and Scott Jordan battled on Twitter for several days after the show aired, even taking it to blog posts on Cuban’s personal blog, The Shark Tank Blog and on Scott Jordan’s blog.
Jordan brings excitement to the show, and he’s now writing a weekly post for our Shark Tank Blog. He’s doing a video too. He brings unique perspective, having been on all sides. Read his column here.
Obviously, I’m excited about our progress with Shark Tank Blog. I’m sure your going to love it too!
Update: Rob and I parted ways last year, I kept the Shark Tank, and Rob has SharkTankBlog. Look for the Shark Tank to take bring lots of great stories.
